This is my favorite time of year, the cool air, gorgeous colors, the fall scents and let’s not forget the comfort food! It has finally started cooling down here in the Midwest and I have already switched gears to fall frenzy. Decor is changed out, candles and scents in the house smell of blissful pumpkin, cinnamon and apples!

My favorite meals are home cooked, feel good, comfort food. Biscuits and gravy is a must have this time of year and will be remade over and over! The gravy is so simple and quick to make, you can either add your own homemade biscuits or buy pre-made and just pop them in the oven!

Sausage Gravy

A simple, creamy gravy that is quick to throw together on a busy day. Great for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

Servings 5

  • 1- 1 1/2 lbs Ground Sausage
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1-2 tbsp Bacon Grease (can use more butter instead)
  • 1/4 C AP Flour
  • 2 C Milk

  1. Brown sausage & drain all but 1 tbsp of grease. If yours doesn't have any or just a little grease left, add the bacon grease or extra butter. If it does have grease, skip that step.

  2. Add butter and bacon grease/extra butter if you need it.

  3. Mix in flour and let it cook for 2-3 minutes.

  4. Pour in milk and cook on medium heat until you reach your desired consistency.
