Every busy family has probably whipped up a tater tot casserole once or twice. For new parents, this is a must have to keep in your back pocket on the crazy busy evenings. 5 items and for simple steps, you have a simple meal for the entire family.
First, preheat your oven to 425 degrees and brown your ground beef over medium heat while it warms. Drain off excess grease after you have fully cooked your beef.
Next, in an ungreased 8×8″ or 9×9″ pan, mix your browned beef, can of cream soup and green beans in you choose to add them. Mix it all together in the pan so that you don’t need to waste a bowl. (Cheers to less dishes!) Smooth the ingredients out so they are even throughout. This will keep everything the same temperature.
Finally, sprinkle cheese evenly over the ground beef mixture and top with a layer of tater tots. The amount of tater tots you add is solely up to you, pile them on or use them sparingly. Bake the casserole for 20-25 minutes, once the tater tots are golden and crisp.
*This is one of the best freezer friendly meals we have come across. Make a double or triple batch even, and place the extras in the freezer instead of baking. Instead of using your pan, use an aluminum square pan and place the lid that comes with over top. I prefer to then wrap it in tin foil and write the directions on it with a sharpie, so I don’t have to pull the recipe out for thaw and cook times. To thaw, just pull out the evening before and place in the fridge or a few hours before and leave on the counter.
