The key to having a successful homeschool year for my family, and probably yours too, is the ability to plan well and well in advance. Prior to designing this planner, I had been through a few and couldn’t find quite what I needed. So many, many hours later I had created this and focused it around what was a priority to our family. This planner begins with Proverbs 31 on the back of the cover page, each month there is an inspirational Bible verse to keep your routine rooted in Christ and centers each and every page around what matters most to you.
Pages Included
Why We Homeschool – record your reason for homeschooling to look back on the hard days or when you need motivation. Create an image of how you desire it look for your family. Add things you love as a family and what you hope to accomplish by the end of the year. This helps us recenter throughout the year with the ability to always flip back and remember why we chose this for our family.
Homeschool Success – Jot down notes about each child. Add their strengths, weaknesses and learning styles to help plan curricula for their needs. When planning different activities, this helps me to include things for all their learning styles!
Curriculum Plan – There are spots for multiple children to record which curriculum you are using for each subject. It also breaks down the length, lessons per week and which company the specific book is from. Our state has a few minimum requirements, so I can make sure t hey are covered with this page.
Day Time Blocks – To help plan your day, there is space to plan it out by blocks of morning, school, meals, breaks and potential conflicts. Getting an overview can help you decide when to do each subject. It helps us to break up the and prioritize things based on blocks.
Children Goals – This is a great opportunity to sit down with your children and decide what goals you would like to set of their year collectively. then break them down by steps to focus on each month. At the bottom you can come up with some fun rewards for them once they meet their goals! Having written goals and rewards helps encourage our children to always strive for improvement but also reward their hard work.
Reading Log & Year at a Glance – Track all the books your children read throughout the year. Plan your schedule ahead of time by being able to glance at the whole year at one time. We use this to plan holidays, breaks and keep inline with our state’s hour requirement.
Monthly Calendar from August – May with a different Bible verse on each. When planning, you can view the month as a whole and schedule field trips, breaks and work around holidays. We love to add feast days and birthdays here!
Monthly Overview – Add your steps for their goals in the monthly focus, field trips, enrichment classes and any supplies or other resource you’ll need for the month. It’s always useful to jot down all of these in one place before starting the month!
Weekly Plans & Hourly Breakdown – Each day/week can look different for everyone. There is a space for both of those to jot down any changes to stay on top of your busy schedule! Our hourly breakdown helps us schedule any changes into our day, rearrange lessons around and prioritize necessities.
Weekly Lesson Planner – There is enough space for up to 8 subject for Monday through Friday. It designed wide enough to divide subjects by child if necessary. I currently have two doing “formal” homeschooling, and there is plenty of space for me to split the boxes and write down separate plans on the subjects they are at different levels like Math.
