Maintaining routine and positive habits helps create a more successful individual. This creates structure and reduces stress. Routines also promote self care, which is just a fancy way to say make yourself happy. What could be more important than your own happiness and living a healthier, more successful life?
Wake Up Early
Wake up an extra 30 minutes tomorrow and reap the benefits of just a little more time to take care of yourself.
Early risers typically have more energy throughout the day and rest better at night. Proper sleep is vital to your mental, physical and emotional health. Getting a few things done before your day ‘begins’ starts you off on the right foot, feeling more accomplished than sleeping in or over sleeping.
Within 15 minutes of waking up, drink 12-16 ounces of water.
Starting your day with a glass of water trains your brain to be in the habit of drinking water, because let’s face it most of us don’t drink enough. Now drinking a glass of water first thing doesn’t have magical weight loss powers or anything, but your body needs water.
Water helps lubricate your joints, hydrate your entire body, help regulate organ function and promote healthy digestion. So beginning your day with a glass of water just kick starts your body to a healthy day.
Make Your Bed
Making your bed checks off the first task of the day.
This will prompt you to tidy the rest of your room which will overflow to the rest of the house. Keeping a tidy room and house will promote your mental health due to lack of clutter. When you arrive home your exhausted self will thank energetic morning self.
Making it a point to start each day with a made bed will take just a few minutes and limit you from saying ‘I don’t have time for that’ on later small tasks. Accomplishing one small task, helps build momentum for the rest of the day.
Have a Skincare Routine
Your skin is the largest organ of your body. It is the first layer of defense for all your other organs, protecting your body from viruses an bacteria.
Every skin type needs a specific routine, but the three basics are: cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. Make sure to cleanse away the oils and sweat from the night before to start refreshed, follow with a moisturizer for your skin type (dry, combo or oily) to help prevent wrinkles and ALWAYS use sunscreen to protect from harmful UV rays and help prevent skin cancer.
Stretch or Exercise Routine
Morning stretching or light exercise enhances your body’s daily performance by promoting blood flow and waking your body up. After laying for long periods of time, we need to stretch our muscles to work out any tension or kinks from the night before.
Have A Healthy Breakfast
“The most important meal of the day”
Eating a healthy breakfast kick starts your day, boosts your metabolism, increases your energy and overall organ health. Make sure to have a well balanced meal to reap the benefits of proteins, carbs and healthy fats.
Write Down 3 Gratitudes
Start your day with a grateful heart and your day will always have a positive projection.
Think ahead to your plans for the day, find three things that you are thankful are coming. This allows you to start your day on a positive note and puts you in the right head space.
Check In On Your Goals
Having goals, long and short term, are a must. Anything from daily goals to a 10 year plan, keep you heading forward. Start by writing down where you would like your life to be, when you can realistically achieve it and the steps to help you get there. Break it down step by step, in to a simple process with a realistic timeline. Check in daily to see where your weekly goals are.
Organize Your To Do List
Write down and prioritize your to do list. Start by making a list of things you need done, write the on the same list as you think of them. Highlight or rewrite them by priority. This will help you stay organized throughout the day and keep a clear head without the stress.
